The web page of the Albion Beatnik Bookstore in Oxford, now closed (as usual) for business: muses and misspills on books, jazz, poetry, stuff like false flags and smoke screen: was randomly decrepit and proven to be more than neo-bankrupt: it was so analogue it was anal and now deceased.
IMMAGINACIJA is a small bindery in Oxford. It has produced handmade stationery, limited edition pamphlets and bespoke bindings since 2010. Its products are exclusively handmade; often they are produced uniquely in short runs, and very often are one of a kind.
IMMAGINACIJA specializes in poetry pamphlets. It employs various art and craft techniques and uses a wide selection of material to create aesthetic yet functional items for daily use.
Its products are made for people who believe in the old fashioned beauty of paper and the joy of handwriting. A selection of its work is available in the Albion Beatnik. It accepts commissions, and its bespoke diaries make ideal Christmas presents!
IMMAGINACIJA is a made-up word, a construct that means, quite simply, imagination. With no formal qualification in bookbinding, Lucie Forejtova has fallen back on imagination and an experimental approach; whilst learning on the go, she has developed her own techniques and unique designs. “I believe in power of handwriting,” she writes, “the simple pleasure of putting a pen to paper. All the memories you hold and that are committed to paper also carry a piece of yourself, hidden within your handwriting – your mood or state of mind, the smell and sound of the very moment in your life. As you grow – and you never stop growing – so does your writing, both its look and content. By keeping handwritten memories you are able to witness yourself move through your life.”
